Oracle is focusing on data resiliency to help enterprises maintain operations during ransomware attacks. The company's architecture integrates Oracle Exadata, the Oracle AI Database, and the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance to secure both production and backup environments.
Senior Vice President Ashish Ray emphasized that modern security requires network segregation, distinct ownership, and immutable backups. These measures are designed to protect backup systems from being compromised alongside primary production data.
A core component of the strategy is the ability to restore data to a precise, known transactional state. The Recovery Appliance continuously validates backup integrity during ingestion to ensure that data remains usable and free from corruption before a restore is needed.
The approach aims to eliminate the risk of unusable backups, which Ray describes as Schrödinger’s data. By performing granular checks, Oracle intends to provide businesses with reliable recovery options that minimize potential data loss during security incidents.
