Alexander Embiricos, who leads the Dots product at OpenAI, is scheduled to speak at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 conference. Embiricos previously co-founded the collaboration tool Multi, which OpenAI acquired in June 2024.
Dots functions as an always-on agent that operates on a dedicated virtual computer in the cloud. The system integrates with over 4,000 applications and supports interaction via voice, text, or messaging platforms, proactively assisting users without requiring specific prompts.
The platform is powered by the GPT-6 Astra model, which OpenAI identifies as the core engine for its new generation of autonomous agentic systems. The product was announced during the company's DevDay event.
The market for always-on agents is becoming increasingly competitive. Meta introduced its own agent product, Muse, in early September 2026, approximately three weeks prior to the OpenAI DevDay announcement.
OpenAI's decision to feature Embiricos at the TechCrunch Disrupt AI stage less than three weeks after the product launch targets an audience of founders, investors, and technical operators.
