OpenAI is currently exploring a new private funding round ahead of its planned initial public offering. According to reports, the company is aiming for a valuation of $1,2 trillion. These discussions were initiated by investors rather than the startup itself, and the decision to proceed depends on the final timeline for the IPO.

The company previously raised $122 billion in March at a valuation of $852 billion and filed for an IPO confidentially in June. CEO Sam Altman stated that the public listing is unlikely to occur before 2027, citing concerns regarding the risks associated with artificial intelligence development.

Financial performance has seen growth following the release of the GPT-5.6 model in July and the Astra model earlier this month. Annualized revenue exceeded $40 billion last month, marking a 20% increase. The company continues to require significant capital, having spent $34 billion on model training last year.

Despite the high expenditures, OpenAI maintains that it possesses sufficient resources following its March funding round. The company has not provided official comments regarding the potential new funding, while reports indicate that the recent revenue surge has helped the firm compete with rivals like Anthropic.
