OpenAI has introduced persistent cloud-based development environments for its Codex programming agent. Unlike previous isolated sandboxes that reset with every request, these new workspaces allow developers to maintain consistent configurations and access rights across different devices.
The updated Codex CLI now supports voice control and features a new /agents panel for managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Improvements to the terminal interface include better prompt editing, session resumption, and enhanced worktree management for long-term coding sessions.
The ChatGPT desktop integration now includes automated code review capabilities. The system can analyze changes, suggest edits, and answer queries even when the user's local machine is powered off, with direct feedback loops for GitHub and GitLab repositories.
The company also launched Codex Security Cloud to automate repository scanning and vulnerability patching. Additionally, OpenAI opened access to Daybreak Blue cybersecurity models and introduced new API tools, including Decisions API and an updated Agents API with Amazon Bedrock support.
