OpenAI has introduced its Dot AI agents, which operate within individual cloud-based virtual machines. According to Geekbench test results, these instances are powered by AMD EPYC 9V74 server processors based on the Zen 4 architecture. Each virtual machine is allocated 9 CPU cores, 9.73GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage space.
The virtual machines run on Ubuntu 24.04.3 or Debian Linux. The environment comes pre-installed with various software tools, including the Chromium browser, Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, Kdenlive, and Godot. Users can also install additional tools as needed. The system achieved a single-core score of 1667 and a multi-core score of 9435 in Geekbench 7.
Dot agents are built on the GPT-6 Astra model and support integration with over 4000 applications. Interaction is available via ChatGPT desktop, web, and mobile platforms, as well as Slack and Teams. Each agent maintains independent credentials, and enterprises can configure dedicated agents with specific permissions.
Compared to Meta's Muse virtual machines, which use 2 vCPUs and 8GB of RAM, the Dot instances offer higher processing power and memory, though they provide less storage space than the 100GB available in Muse. The service is currently being rolled out to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium subscribers.
