OpenAI's South Korean representative, Kim Kyoung-hoon, announced that cooperation with Samsung Electronics on next-generation chips is progressing well. While Samsung Electronics issued a statement saying it cannot confirm information regarding its customers, OpenAI continues to seek partnerships with South Korean semiconductor supply chain companies.
The company plans to build AI inference infrastructure in South Korea to avoid potential regulatory risks associated with the same-time cross-border flow of data.
In the South Korean market, the growth of the user base has been significant. The number of ChatGPT Enterprise users has increased 28-fold compared to a year ago, while ChatGPT Work and Codex users have grown 14-fold in the last six months. Weekly active users of ChatGPT have also increased by 35%.
