Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, addressed inquiries regarding the screen refresh rate of the upcoming OnePlus 16 smartphone. He explained that the device prioritizes user experience over raw specifications, noting that current display technology cannot sustain a global 185Hz refresh rate while balancing power consumption, heat management, and visual quality.

The company has determined that a global 165Hz refresh rate currently offers the optimal balance for daily usage. While the screen supports a peak refresh rate of 185Hz specifically for gaming scenarios, the system is tuned to maintain 165Hz across mainstream applications to ensure consistent performance and efficiency.

The OnePlus 16 will be the first device to feature the fourth-generation Oriental Screen, developed in collaboration with BOE. This display utilizes new X4 light-emitting material and features 1.15mm ultra-narrow bezels. The smartphone is scheduled for an official launch on October 12 at 19:00.
