The S1Z is available in two battery configurations: 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh, both utilizing 46-series LFP cells. These cells were developed at the Battery Innovation Centre in Bengaluru and are produced at the Ola Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The company states that in-house production has significantly reduced battery costs.
The 3.1 kWh battery provides a range of up to 179 kilometers and charges from 0 to 80 percent in 5 hours and 42 minutes. The 5.1 kWh version increases the range by 68 percent to 301 kilometers, with a charging time of 6 hours and 16 minutes for the same charge level.
Both models are powered by a 4 kW mid-mounted motor and reach a top speed of 70 kph. The standard-range version accelerates from 0 to 40 kph in 4.6 seconds and to 60 kph in 9.6 seconds. The long-range variant takes 4.9 seconds and 10.1 seconds for the same milestones.
Introductory pricing is set at 79,999 rupees for the 3.1 kWh model and 99,999 rupees for the 5.1 kWh model. Deliveries for the standard-range scooter will begin in December, while the long-range version is expected in March 2027.
The shift to LFP cells, moving away from the company's traditional NMC cells, is intended to improve affordability and thermal safety in India's hot climate. Following the launch, Ola Electric's shares rose up to 8.1 percent on the BSE, closing 5.3 percent higher.
