OKX has submitted a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission to establish a platform for trading tokenized stocks within the United States. While the document was not publicly available in SEC records as of early October 2026, the move follows recent regulatory changes in Washington regarding on-chain asset trading.
The company previously launched Unified Tokenized Stocks in July 2026, featuring over 40 US stocks and ETFs, which expanded to more than 70 by September. These current assets are synthetic, backed 1:1 by shares, and traded against USDT on Solana and X Layer. However, they are restricted under Regulation S and do not provide shareholder rights like dividends or voting.
On September 17, 2026, the SEC introduced a five-year Innovation Exemption, valid until September 17, 2031, allowing Tokenized Securities Venues to trade on-chain NMS stocks. This framework requires tokens to grant full shareholder rights, meaning OKX would need to restructure its current synthetic offerings to qualify for the US market.
Additionally, OKX is pursuing entry into the US through OKXICE, a joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange announced in June 2026. The platform aims to offer tokenized NYSE equities, pending approval for broker-dealer and futures commission merchant status from the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
