The cryptocurrency exchange OKX has launched its account-protection program, OKX Shield, for customers in the United States. The service is designed to provide financial coverage in the event that an unauthorized third party gains control of a user account and transfers assets. The program covers incidents involving phishing, malware, or SIM-swap attacks.
Eligible standard users can receive up to $100 000 in protection. For VIP customers, the coverage limits are higher: VIP 1–3 users are eligible for up to $250 000, while VIP 4+ users can receive up to $500 000. The company notes that there are no subscription or activation fees for the program.
To activate the protection, users must enable specific security features, including a passkey, large withdrawal protection, web withdrawal blocking, and transaction verification. The system also scans linked devices for malware, rooting, or jailbreaking to ensure compliance with security standards.
