Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is developing a platform for trading tokenized US equities and ETFs. The system aims to provide 24/7 operations, near-instant settlement, and support for stablecoin funding, pending regulatory approval.

The platform will operate as a separate venue using the existing Pillar matching engine integrated with blockchain-based post-trade infrastructure. It is designed to support multiple blockchain networks and fractional share trading, allowing investors to purchase portions of stocks.

ICE has established partnerships with BNY and Citi to manage tokenized deposit services and clearing. While the project was announced on January 19, 2026, as part of a broader digital strategy, the platform remains pending regulatory approval as of mid-September 2026.

The initiative distinguishes itself from other market efforts, such as the 23-hour trading sessions being tested by NYSE Arca and Nasdaq. Unlike traditional extended-hours trading that relies on conventional clearing, the ICE platform aims to embed instant settlement directly into its architecture.
