A Reddit user under the handle u/Ecstatic_Hamster2208 has released version 1.8.0 of the NvpwrControl tool. The software is designed to bypass power limits on Nvidia laptop graphics cards, specifically targeting the RTX 50 series.
According to the developer, the tool allows the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 laptop GPUs to reach a power limit of 250W. For the RTX 5070 Ti, the utility enables a power increase to 180W.
Previously, the developer used AI to modify the power limit of the RTX 5070 Ti from 140W to 160W. This adjustment resulted in a score of 4,839 points in the 3DMark Steel Nomad benchmark, which is 16% higher than previous records for that model.
The creator of NvpwrControl explicitly labels the software as experimental. Users are warned that applying these power limit overrides carries significant risks and should be performed at their own discretion.
