Nvidia is currently in preliminary negotiations regarding the potential acquisition of Reflection AI, a developer of open-weight models. According to reports, the parties are also discussing a possible increase in Nvidia's investment or an acqui-hire arrangement, which would involve hiring staff and licensing technology to bypass extensive regulatory reviews.

Reflection AI, founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, previously reached a pre-money valuation of $25 billion. Nvidia already serves as a primary investor, having led a $2 billion funding round in October 2025 and contributing a total of $800 million to the startup to date.

The startup recently launched its first open-weight model, Beam, which features 501 billion parameters. The model was trained on Nvidia GB300 systems. Reflection AI currently utilizes computing capacity through a multi-year agreement with SpaceX, valued at up to $6.3 billion, and a separate $1 billion capacity deal with Nebius Group.

Other notable investors in Reflection AI include Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and DST Global. While the potential deal could be finalized within weeks, sources indicate that discussions remain ongoing and could still collapse. Neither Nvidia nor Reflection AI has provided official comments on the matter.
