Nvidia established the Open Secure AI Alliance in July 2026 to foster collaboration on AI safety and cybersecurity tools. The initiative follows a security incident involving Hugging Face and aims to address potential regulatory developments regarding open and closed AI models discussed by the White House and US legislators.
The alliance is currently managed by the Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization. Its membership includes major technology firms such as Mistral, Hugging Face, UiPath, Microsoft, Adobe, and Dell. The coalition website currently lists over 100 participating companies.
Addressing concerns regarding the commitment of members to share information, Nvidia cybersecurity policy head Mark Weatherford emphasized that the alliance's success relies on active collaboration. He noted that the Linux Foundation is managing a vetting process for a queue of hundreds of additional companies seeking to join.
Several prominent AI developers, including Google, Anthropic, Meta, and OpenAI, are not currently listed as members. While OpenAI and Google previously signed an open letter supporting open-source AI efforts alongside more than 200 other companies, they have not joined this specific coalition.
