Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joined a US delegation for a state dinner in Beijing on May 14, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Huang secured a last-minute spot on Air Force One, traveling via Anchorage to attend the event at the Great Hall of the People.
The dinner was also attended by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook. While the meeting served as a diplomatic occasion, no new trade agreements, formal announcements, or signed memoranda resulted from the gathering.
Nvidia has previously estimated the value of its China-specific product business at approximately $50 billion. The company currently designs lower-specification chips to comply with US export restrictions on advanced AI semiconductor technology.
The presence of major US tech executives signals a corporate preference for continued engagement with the Chinese market despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. China has recently accelerated domestic chip development in response to US export controls.
