Jim Cramer identified Nvidia and Broadcom as the primary beneficiaries of the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT-6 Astra. During the Morning Meeting show on CNBC, he highlighted these companies as key players in the AI hardware sector.
Nvidia's role is centered on training. According to CEO Jensen Huang, Astra was trained on approximately 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell systems. An additional 400,000 chips are being deployed for OpenAI, which Cramer interprets as a strong demand signal.
Broadcom is focused on the inference side of AI. The company developed a custom chip called Jalapeño in collaboration with OpenAI, unveiled in June 2026. This chip is purpose-built for LLM workloads powering ChatGPT, Codex, and the API.
The initial deployment of Jalapeño chips is scheduled for the end of 2026, with Celestica handling the assembly. Cramer suggests that a successful Astra rollout protects Broadcom's custom silicon order book.
Market analysts provide positive forecasts for both companies. All 29 analysts covering Nvidia rate it a buy with an average 12-month target of $325.23. For Broadcom, 26 analysts rate it a buy and three rate it as hold, with an average target of $521.41.
