Meta Platforms Inc. announced that Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. intend to purchase $4 billion worth of its shares. This equity acquisition is part of a broader stock sale initiative by Meta, which aims to raise up to $95 billion in total.
Broadcom Inc. is also participating in the fundraising effort, with a planned investment of $1 billion in Meta shares. Combined, Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom will invest a total of $5 billion into the company.
Nvidia will invest $3 billion as part of an expanded partnership. Meta plans to increase its use of Nvidia Rubin GPUs, Vera CPUs, and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking hardware, including SuperNICs and switches. The companies will also collaborate on optimizing the Muse large language model and the OpenShell reference architecture.
AMD is investing $1 billion in Meta and has supplied its Helios rack design for the company's data centers. These racks feature Instinct MI450 GPUs, Epyc CPUs, and Pensando data processing units. Meta is currently testing an initial set of these systems and plans to deploy more in the future.
