Apple has officially introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, which features under-display camera technology. This release has sparked industry discussions regarding the maturity of such solutions in modern mobile devices.
Zhang Lei, Vice President of ZTE and General Manager of Nubia's flagship products, noted that Apple's adoption of this technology validates the development path Nubia chose seven years ago. He pointed out that the first generation of under-display cameras often shows visible artifacts in color display mode.
According to Zhang, the first generation of this technology typically achieves a pixel density of 200 PPI, similar to the Nubia Axon 30 released in 2020. In contrast, the current Nubia Z80U model has reached 400 PPI, which makes the camera area indistinguishable to the naked eye.
Ni Fei, President of ZTE's terminal division and Nubia, stated that Apple is likely utilizing second-generation under-display technology. He emphasized that Nubia has already advanced to its seventh generation of this camera integration solution.
