Nubank, a digital bank with over 140 million customers, has introduced Nu Global, a multi-currency account that utilizes Circle’s USDC and EURC stablecoins for international transfers. The service launched on September 10 and enables fee-free transactions across more than 35 countries, primarily focusing on Latin America and Europe.
The platform automatically converts user deposits into stablecoins. Balances in USDC earn 3.50% APY, while EURC balances earn 2.20% APY. Users receive a virtual Mastercard for global payments, allowing them to spend stablecoin balances directly at merchants. The app also supports trading of other digital assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
This launch marks Nubank’s entry into the US market through a partnership with the FDIC-insured Lead Bank. The company is currently seeking its own national bank charter, having received preliminary conditional approval in January 2026. The initial rollout targets Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and the US.
CEO David Velez stated that the product is designed for individuals with financial obligations across multiple countries. The initiative builds upon the bank's previous experience with USDC through its NuCrypto service, transitioning from a standalone crypto feature to a fully integrated international banking product.
