Carl Pei, co-founder and CEO of Nothing, hosted a Q&A session on the Reddit community r/NothingTech last Friday. During the event, the CEO addressed several critical questions from fans and users regarding the product line and software updates.

Addressing the product design, Pei responded to concerns about the reduction of Glyph lighting strips in newer models compared to the Phone (1) and Phone (2). He attributed these changes to the rapid pace of the company's evolution.

Regarding software issues, Pei admitted that pre-installed applications and advertisements in Nothing OS 4.0 are inappropriate and should be limited. He also confirmed that reports of green and black screen issues on the Phone (3) have been escalated to internal meetings for a prompt resolution.

On the update policy, Pei explained that the Phone (2) will not receive Nothing OS 5.0 because its kernel version is too old and Qualcomm does not provide Android 17 support for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. He stated that the company has fulfilled its promise of three major updates for the Phone (2), with security updates continuing until 2027.
