Berlin-based energy startup Nomos has secured €20 million in a funding round led by Index Ventures. The investment also saw participation from notable tech figures, including Bolt CEO Markus Villig, UiPath founder Daniel Dines, and Tesonet co-founder Tomas Okmanas.
Founded in 2023 by Stefan Gerbes and Nils Bitzer, Nomos operates as a regulated electricity supplier. The company provides a platform that allows hardware installers, such as Thermondo, Energiekonzepte Deutschland, and IKEA’s Svea Solar, to offer branded energy plans while Nomos manages procurement, metering, and billing.
The platform integrates household devices like heat pumps, solar panels, and home batteries with wholesale energy markets. By acting as a full-stack power company, Nomos aims to address high electricity costs in Europe, which are currently significantly higher than those in the United States and China.
This latest round brings the total funding for Nomos to approximately €22 million, following a €1.9 million pre-seed round led by Speedinvest in October 2024. The company plans to utilize these funds to launch new products, expand its workforce, and scale operations across Europe.
