Noctua has entered into a long-term partnership with Forced Physics DCT to develop a cooling solution capable of handling a 2000W thermal design power. This project aims to significantly exceed the performance limits of current cooling technologies, which typically cap out at 300W for air coolers and 800W for high-end liquid cooling systems.

The proposed JouleForce technology utilizes a micro-channel array structure that compresses air channels to a micrometer scale. This design increases heat exchange efficiency per unit volume. When paired with high-static pressure fans, the system maintains high airflow and low air resistance within a compact footprint to manage extreme thermal loads.

Noctua is currently focusing its research and development efforts on noise reduction to make this high-airflow solution viable for desktop environments. The company notes that the current prototype is primarily for engineering validation. Further work is required to optimize fan curves, control resonance, and ensure compatibility with standard PC chassis airflow designs.
