The new model is expected to be based on the AmpR Small platform, sharing its foundation with the Renault Twingo. Technical specifications suggest a 27.5 kWh LFP battery and a single 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor, providing a WLTP range of up to 263 km (163 miles).

The vehicle will be produced at the Renault Group plant in Novo Mesto, Slovakia. This move is part of Nissan's strategy to regain market share in Europe and compete with low-cost Chinese brands such as BYD and Leapmotor.

Positioned below the Micra in the European lineup, the Wave will target the entry-level segment. It is intended to replace the gap left by the halted development of the fully electric Qashqai, which was previously a key part of the company's recovery plans.
