Nissan is launching its Frontier Pro pickup truck in Mexico this month, marking the first model developed and produced by the company in China for global export. The vehicle was originally introduced in the Chinese market in October 2025 by the Zhengzhou Nissan joint venture.

Following the Mexican debut, the truck will reach the Philippines in November 2026. Nissan plans to expand availability to the Middle East, Central and South America, and Oceania by the end of 2026. In 2027, the model will launch in Australia and New Zealand as the Navara Pro.

The vehicle is available with gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The PHEV version, which is the primary offering for most global markets, delivers 410 hp and 800 Nm of torque, with a towing capacity of 3.5 tons and an electric-only range of 135 km.

Gasoline and diesel variants feature a third-generation M9T engine, a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, and a BorgWarner Mlock four-wheel-drive system, producing 136 kW and 500 Nm of torque. In Mexico, the starting price for the Frontier Pro is MXN 969 900, or approximately $53 400.

This expansion strategy aims to utilize Chinese production capabilities to compete with local manufacturers like BYD. Nissan intends to customize regional offerings, prioritizing PHEV models for most global markets while supplying gasoline-powered versions specifically to the Middle East.
