Nio has launched a battery swap station in Xinxingxia, located in the eastern part of Xinjiang. The company describes this facility as the world's first autonomous station of its kind that operates with zero carbon emissions. The site functions entirely on solar energy and integrated storage systems, eliminating the need for a connection to the power grid.

The station is situated in the Gobi Desert, an area characterized by harsh environmental conditions. The region experiences over 100 days of gale-force winds annually, with surface temperatures reaching above 70 degrees Celsius in the summer and dropping to -30 degrees Celsius during the winter months.

To ensure autonomous operation, Nio utilized the Longi Block mobile energy station and the Longi H2D storage system. Photovoltaic panels power the facility and charge the storage units during the day, while the battery system provides energy at night. The equipment includes an emergency mode for periods of prolonged cloud cover.

The system automatically switches between three operating modes based on available sunlight. The station features liquid cooling, temperature control, and a reinforced design, all engineered to withstand the extreme climate of the Gobi Desert.
