Nio and Geely have entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership focused on charging and battery swapping infrastructure. The agreement covers technical cooperation, operational integration, and joint capital investment to develop shared standards and expand the service network.

Nio President Qin Lihong stated that battery swapping technology is particularly effective for commercial ride-hailing vehicles. According to company estimates, drivers can save up to 90 minutes of charging time per day, which could potentially increase their operating income by 15% to 20%.

The partnership also aims to address vehicle residual value issues through flexible battery asset management, similar to Nio's BaaS model. By decoupling the battery from the vehicle, operators could reduce total lifecycle costs by up to 40%.

The companies plan to integrate their networks to ensure that charging and swapping stations are accessible within a 5-minute drive for operators. This collaboration marks a significant step in scaling energy infrastructure for commercial fleets.
