Nio and Geely are expanding their partnership in charging and battery-swapping infrastructure. The agreement includes mutual investments, the integration of networks, and the development of joint technical standards for swappable batteries in passenger vehicles.
Geely will invest ¥640 million into Nio Power and contribute its subsidiary Yiyi Power, which focuses on battery swapping for commercial services. Following the deal, Geely will hold a 30% stake in Nio Power. In exchange, Nio is acquiring a 10% stake in Geely’s charging subsidiary, Haohan Energy.
The companies plan to allow Geely’s private passenger car models to utilize Nio’s Power Swap stations. This builds upon a 2023 agreement to develop common standards. Nio has invested over ¥20 billion in its energy infrastructure to date, operating 4,126 swap stations and 5,307 charging locations as of 27 September.
Nio aims to reach 10,000 swap stations by 2030. Meanwhile, Geely’s Haohan Energy currently manages 2,500 charging stations across 232 cities. The company intends to scale its network to over 22,000 stations and 100,000 charging points by the end of 2027, alongside new 2.25 MW fast-charging technology.
