Nintendo has updated the design of its Switch 2 console to simplify the battery replacement process. This adjustment ensures compliance with European Union regulations, allowing users to replace the battery independently once its capacity degrades over time.

The company released an official guide detailing the procedure. Users require a Phillips screwdriver and a replacement battery, model BEE-003(-01). Nintendo plans to sell these components as a dedicated replacement kit in the future.

To access the internal compartment, users must remove nine screws located on the sides, bottom, back, and top of the device. The battery utilizes metal contacts instead of plug-in cables, eliminating the need to disconnect wires. The design also includes a mechanism to prevent incorrect battery installation.

The console assembly avoids the use of adhesives, which minimizes the risk of damage during maintenance. Nintendo advises users to verify the alignment of the top buttons and microphone, and to check for any stray screws attached to internal magnets before closing the back cover.
