Nintendo has released firmware version 23.0.0 for the original Switch console. The update addresses a security vulnerability related to the QR code scanning feature used for transferring screenshots and video clips to mobile devices.

The flaw allows attackers to execute unauthorized code or access sensitive data stored on the console. The issue is classified as a proximity-based remote attack, meaning an attacker must be physically near the device to exploit the vulnerability during the QR code interaction process.

The vulnerability does not affect the second-generation Switch models, as they do not utilize QR codes for image transfers. Nintendo urges all owners of the original console to install the latest firmware update immediately to mitigate these security risks.
