Nikon China announced the development of firmware version 2.00 for the Nikon ZR full-frame camera, part of the Z CINEMA line. This update is scheduled for release within 2026.

The 2.00 firmware will introduce support for Log3G10 curves and REDWideGamutRGB color space when recording in H.265 format. These additions aim to provide smaller file sizes and greater flexibility during color grading.

New features include adjustable high ISO noise reduction levels during H.265 Log recording, allowing creators to control image rendering based on their artistic intent.

The camera will also support focus peaking during R3D NE format recording for more precise focus confirmation.

By 2027, Nikon expects to add open gate recording and de-squeeze display for anamorphic lenses. Additionally, RED will update the RED CONTROL CN remote application to enable remote control capabilities for the ZR.
