A developer has released a lightweight WordPress plugin for VK ID authentication after failing to find a suitable existing solution. The tool was developed in under an hour to replace bulky alternatives and paid plugins that cost up to 5,000 ₽.
The plugin features a shortcode for button placement, automatic user registration upon login, and profile data synchronization, including names and emails. It uses a local SDK, avoiding external CDN dependencies to ensure stability and performance.
The solution is distributed under the GPLv2 license, allowing free use and modification. It has been tested on PHP 8.4 and WordPress 7.1. The developer notes that the plugin does not require additional secret keys, relying on the official VK ID security scheme.
Additionally, Daks Raad, co-founder of the AI coding service OpenCode, announced that the OpenCode Go subscription plan, priced at $10 per month, has achieved break-even status and maintained it for two consecutive weeks.
