Varys Capital and Verda Ventures released a 70-page report titled LATAM: Beyond the Acronym, which analyzes investment trends across Latin America. The research argues against viewing the region as a single market, instead categorizing it into four distinct archetypes: Scale Markets, Stable Builders, Crisis Innovators, and Frontier Markets.

The report highlights that factors such as currency instability and gaps in financial infrastructure drive the adoption of stablecoins and digital dollars. These assets are increasingly utilized for savings, payments, and treasury management. The firms track approximately 500 stablecoin-related companies in the region through their proprietary dashboard, Stablescape.

Beyond digital assets, the study identifies investment potential in sectors including artificial intelligence, tokenization, credit infrastructure, logistics, and energy. The analysis suggests that investors should focus on specific structural conditions and local problems rather than treating the region as a monolithic entity.

Varys Capital, based in New York, manages a venture fund and a quantitative trading fund focused on blockchain innovation. Verda Ventures operates the MiniPay Fund in partnership with Opera and Celo, providing portfolio companies access to Opera’s user base of approximately 300 million monthly active users.
