The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) records from October 8 reveal a new Nintendo Switch 2 device model, identified as BEE-001(-01). This specific model number matches the revised version of the console designed for the European market, which features a user-replaceable battery.

Nintendo previously stated that it is updating its hardware to comply with new European battery regulations. These changes apply to consoles and specific controllers sold within regions managed by Nintendo of Europe. However, the company has not yet announced plans to release this battery-swappable version in the United States.

Additional documentation from Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications shows that the GameCube controller for the console, model BEE-021, received a design certification update on September 10, adding the BEE-021(-01) variant. Similarly, a new version of the Nintendo 64 controller has appeared in Canadian certification filings with a similar suffix.

While the new model numbers suggest design revisions, the exact technical changes remain unconfirmed. Nintendo has not provided a timeline or confirmation for the release of these battery-swappable controller versions in Japan, noting that they are expected to arrive in Europe by early 2027. Regional availability and specific product configurations are still pending further announcements.
