Nebius, formerly Yandex, has entered into a strategic partnership with Palantir, an AI developer for the CIA and the Pentagon. Palantir has selected Nebius as its preferred infrastructure partner for sovereign AI, allowing commercial clients to access Nebius's cloud platform and computing resources tailored for AI tasks.
The integration will place Nebius's computing resources and interface endpoints within Palantir's corporate sector. This setup enables clients to deploy open models on Nebius infrastructure while maintaining full control over their computing power, data, and the resulting models, which is particularly beneficial for organizations that previously lacked sovereign AI deployment solutions.
The companies will also collaborate to accelerate the deployment of new computing capacities, including the use of modular data centers at sites with existing power infrastructure. Palantir, founded in 2003 by PayPal alumni including Peter Thiel, was initially supported by the CIA's In-Q-Tel fund with a $300 million investment.
Palantir's portfolio includes the Gotham platform for government agencies, as well as Foundry and Air for the commercial sector, used by banks, pharmaceutical companies, and automotive groups. The company also works with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, either directly or through NATO countries.
Nebius, registered in the Netherlands, focuses on building AI data centers in Europe, the UK, and the USA. The company is owned and led by Arkady Volozh. It has received investments from Nvidia, Accel, and Orbis Investments.
In August 2026, Nebius issued convertible bonds for a total of $5 billion. The company has secured significant contracts: a $19.4 billion deal with Microsoft in 2025, a $3 billion contract with Meta in 2025, and an additional contract with Meta in 2026 for up to $27 billion.
