The cross-chain swap service Near Intents has fully recovered approximately $3.8 million that was stolen during an exploit on Thursday. The funds were returned after the company's general manager, Alex Shevchenko, publicly stated that the team had identified the attacker.
The recovery followed a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the team. Shevchenko provided specific Bitcoin, BNB, Ethereum, and Solana addresses for the return of the assets. The attacker sent a message alongside the transaction admitting fault and returning the full amount, prompting the company to cease its investigation.
The exploit occurred due to a bug in the interaction between the Omni deposit and withdrawal layer and the main smart contract. Following the incident, the service temporarily halted operations. Prior to the breach, the platform had processed over $30 billion in swap volume across 35 different blockchains.
Before the successful exploit, Near Intents had blocked a $50 million swap attempt linked to the hacker responsible for the Bitget breach. The company had previously reported the theft to law enforcement and pledged full compensation to its users before the funds were returned.
