A new VSCode extension now allows developers to use GitHub Copilot with models hosted on NEAR AI Cloud. The integration utilizes the More Providers extension for VS Code, which supports 258 OpenAI-compatible options. This setup enables users to maintain existing workflows by pointing tools at the NEAR AI Cloud API.
The platform leverages Trusted Execution Environments based on Intel TDX and NVIDIA confidential computing technologies. This architecture isolates user prompts, model weights, and generated outputs from infrastructure providers and NEAR AI. Each request includes a hardware-signed cryptographic attestation to verify the secure execution environment.
Users can opt for client-side encryption for additional privacy. The service hosts open-weight models, such as GLM 5.3 Flash, with input costs ranging from $0.15 to $0.50 per million tokens. Payments can be made via credit card or by staking NEAR tokens to generate inference credits.
NEAR AI Cloud launched in December 2025. The platform expanded its reach through integrations with the SayGm gateway in August 2026 and OpenRouter in September 2026. A June 2026 update to VS Code's Bring Your Own Key support further simplified the process by removing the requirement for a GitHub sign-in.
