The role involves leading teams of flight controllers, astronauts, and international partners during real-time mission execution. Flight directors are responsible for risk management and coordinating with engineering and safety teams to align operational plans with spacecraft capabilities.
Applicants must be United States citizens and hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, biological or physical sciences, computer science, or mathematics. Candidates are expected to demonstrate significant professional experience in decision-making within high-pressure environments.
The application window closes on Monday, October 12. NASA expects to announce the selected candidates before the end of the year. New hires will undergo comprehensive training covering flight control, spacecraft systems, operational leadership, and risk management.
