NASA has expanded its partnership with SpaceX by ordering three additional crewed missions to the International Space Station. This modification covers the Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17 flights, bringing the total number of missions assigned to the company under the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability contract to 17.

The contract modification is valued at $946 million. This amount covers comprehensive mission services, including launch operations, cargo transportation, and the provision of a lifeboat capability while the spacecraft is docked at the station. The performance period for these services extends through 2030.

With this latest agreement, the total value of NASA's CCtCap contract with SpaceX has reached $5.92 billion. The agency noted that this sole-source modification does not prevent future contract adjustments if additional transportation services are required to maintain access to the station.

NASA originally established the Commercial Crew Program in 2014, partnering with both Boeing and SpaceX. SpaceX received its official certification for crew transportation in November 2020. Currently, the company's Crew-12 mission is docked at the International Space Station as part of the ongoing rotation program.
