Nagoshi Studio, founded by former Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi, has effectively ceased operations. Reports from the VGC podcast indicate that the studio is no longer active, despite the lack of an official public statement from the company.
The studio's decline followed NetEase's decision to withdraw financial support. A spokesperson for NetEase confirmed that funding for the developer was officially terminated in May of this year, following initial reports of the cutback in March.
Following the loss of funding, the studio's official YouTube channel was shut down, its debut game trailer was removed from the internet, and the official website became inaccessible. The studio had previously announced a project titled Gang of Dragon, featuring actor Ma Dong-seok.
Journalist Andy Robinson reported that Toshihiro Nagoshi is currently seeking employment at other game studios. This development suggests that the team has fully disbanded, marking the end of the venture that was established after Nagoshi left Sega.
