MTS released analytical data regarding spam calls in the Kirov region for the period between June and August 2026. According to the company, its 'MTS Defender' service successfully identified and blocked over 5 million unwanted calls during these three months.
The data indicates that 10% of fraudulent calls originated from individuals posing as pension or social service representatives. Additionally, 9% of calls were related to advertising and telemarketing, while 8% were made by entities claiming to be marketplaces or delivery services.
Activity peaked in August 2026, accounting for 47% of the total volume of blocked calls. Experts noted that scammers frequently impersonate telecommunications operators or government officials, while also leveraging topics such as utility services, investment opportunities, and legal assistance.
