MTS has upgraded its 4G network infrastructure across nine municipal districts in the Khabarovsk Territory. The operator transitioned legacy 3G frequencies to the LTE standard in 14 settlements, improving mobile internet connectivity for approximately 36,000 residents. The project focused on both small villages with populations under 1,000 and larger settlements.
In smaller villages such as Bolon, Galkino, Kenay, Etyrken, Susanino, Oremif, Solontsy, Dudi, and Sanboli, the refarming process expanded network coverage to ensure stable performance across both central and peripheral areas. In larger towns like Yagodny, Solnechny, Nekrasovka, and Pereyaslavka, the company increased network capacity to handle higher data traffic and improved indoor signal penetration.
Technical optimizations resulted in a data transmission speed increase of more than one-third. These upgrades enable residents to utilize modern digital services and VoLTE technology, allowing simultaneous voice calls and high-speed data usage. The company reports that similar refarming projects were completed this year in several other locations, including Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Sovetskaya Gavan.
MTS plans to continue its network modernization efforts throughout the region regardless of settlement size. According to Natalia Ekshenger, director of MTS in the Khabarovsk Territory, the company is simultaneously preparing infrastructure for 5G in major cities while prioritizing the stabilization and capacity expansion of existing networks in smaller rural areas through frequency reallocation.
