MTS has deployed a domestic Irteya base station in the village of Koshkino, located in the Belozersky District of the Kurgan Region. This infrastructure provides local residents with voice services and LTE mobile internet access. The upgrade also covers the surrounding villages of Govorukhino, Rychkovo, and Rusakovo, improving connectivity for local schools, post offices, and medical facilities.
The new equipment enhances LTE coverage along the federal R-254 Irtysh highway, which connects the Kurgan and Tyumen regions. This deployment is part of a broader strategy to increase technological independence within the MTS network. According to Tatyana Vazhenina, director of MTS in the Kurgan Region, the company has already launched an Irteya station in the Pritobolny District this year.
The initiative is part of a nationwide project focused on the development and implementation of domestic LTE technology. MTS plans to integrate more Russian-made equipment into its network moving forward. By the beginning of 2027, a total of 3,800 Irteya base stations are scheduled to be installed across 76 regions of Russia to ensure stable communication in both rural and densely populated areas.
