MTS has launched 5G network services in the Republic of Khakassia. The coverage is currently available in specific areas of Abakan and Sayanogorsk, including both popular public locations and residential districts.

The operator is deploying 5G using the 2100 MHz LTE frequency band based on the principle of technological neutrality. This approach allows the simultaneous use of existing spectrum for both 4G and 5G networks, eliminating the need to construct separate infrastructure.

In Abakan, the network is active in five locations, including the area near the Transfiguration Cathedral, the Abakan Business Center district, and residential microdistricts No. 1 and No. 9. Coverage has also been established in central areas of Sayanogorsk.

The deployment follows a decision by the State Commission for Radio Frequencies, which authorized operators to utilize existing 4G frequencies and hardware for 5G services. A transition to domestic base stations is scheduled to begin in 2027 and conclude by the end of 2031.
