MTS Bank has officially launched digital ruble services for both corporate and retail clients. The bank, which joined the pilot program in August 2023, now allows users to open digital ruble accounts, top them up, and perform transactions directly through its mobile application.

Corporate clients can now accept payments via POS terminals, online checkouts, and universal payment codes. The bank also supports B2B transfers, state payments, and payroll services, with cross-border payment capabilities planned for the future.

Retail users can manage digital ruble transactions using a QR code system similar to the existing Faster Payments System (SBP). The digital ruble, issued by the Bank of Russia, serves as a third form of national currency alongside cash and non-cash funds.

According to Anton Pashkevich, head of the Daily Banking cluster at MTS Bank, the institution was among the first to test B2B payments and self-checkout digital ruble payments in 2025. The bank completed the transition from the pilot phase to mass service deployment.
