The Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University has selected the Botsman containerization platform, developed by Astra Group, to replace its existing Docker-based infrastructure. The platform will be deployed as part of the first phase of the university's new data center, which is scheduled to launch in the coming months.

The transition aims to move from manual, single-server administration to a centralized cluster management system. Botsman allows the university to scale infrastructure without increasing administrative workload and enables development teams to manage isolated workspaces with predefined resource quotas independently.

MSU plans to use the platform to provide internal container services to various university departments. The choice was driven by security requirements, as the system handles personal data and requires FSTEC certification. Botsman aligns with the university's existing technology stack, which includes Astra Linux, the Brest virtualization suite, and Termidesk.

According to Ruslan Shagaliev, commercial director at Platform Botsman, the project focuses on creating a unified, compatible infrastructure rather than relying on disparate solutions. Vasily Shokov, a lead programmer at the center, noted that the platform's policy-based access control and quota management are essential for maintaining a trusted infrastructure.
