The Moscow Shipyard has initiated sea trials for its new project, the Moscow 1.0 electric vessels. According to Deputy Mayor Maksim Liksutov, these ships are expected to enter regular passenger service by the end of 2026. The testing phase focuses on evaluating maneuverability, engine performance, braking efficiency, and overall stability.
Engineers are currently conducting comprehensive checks on safety systems, electric propulsion units, and energy storage capabilities. Previous tests covered the functionality of traction batteries, lighting, ventilation, and docking equipment. The vessels are being evaluated across various operational modes to ensure reliability before they are deployed for public transport.
The construction of these electric ships was completed in less than six months at the shipyard located in the Nagatinsky Zaton district. The facility is designed to produce up to 40 vessels annually. Moscow authorities plan to acquire approximately 40 additional electric ships in the coming years to expand the city's sustainable river transport network.
