MoonPay has announced the acquisition of North Capital, a Utah-based brokerage firm operating since 1999. The deal, which remains subject to regulatory approval, aims to secure US securities licenses that MoonPay previously sourced through partners. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
North Capital provides a comprehensive infrastructure, including two SEC-registered broker-dealers, a transfer agent, an investment adviser, and the PPEX alternative trading system. The platform has facilitated $8,7 billion in primary and secondary market trades and supports over 1,250 private assets.
The acquisition allows MoonPay to move beyond synthetic stock trackers toward offering regulated securities. By utilizing North Capital’s capabilities, the company can handle escrow, investor verification, and shareholder records, supporting Reg CF and Reg A+ offerings for non-accredited investors.
This move follows a series of recent expansions, including the acquisition of Solana router DFlow in May for a reported $100 million in stock. The North Capital deal marks MoonPay's sixth acquisition since early 2025 as the firm seeks to integrate regulated financial infrastructure.
