MoneyGram has launched a Visa debit card in Colombia that allows users to spend USDC at any merchant worldwide that accepts Visa. The card automatically converts stablecoins to local fiat currency at the point of sale. The project was developed in partnership with infrastructure provider Rain.
The service is currently available through the MoneyGram mobile app. In addition to digital payments, users can convert their USDC holdings into local currency at more than 6,000 physical MoneyGram locations across Colombia. The company chose this country due to its existing extensive distribution network.
The company previously tested stablecoin adoption in the region by launching a USDC-backed mobile app in September 2025. MoneyGram plans to integrate its own stablecoin, MGUSD, which was introduced in June 2026, into the card program in the future.
Rain, the infrastructure partner for this launch, also provides backend services for the Western Union Stablecard. According to data from the second fiscal quarter of 2026, Visa supports 160 active stablecoin card programs globally.
