The Molniya messenger, initially announced in August 2025, has been released on the RuStore platform. Developed by an entity listed as Molniya, the application is currently available only for Android devices, with support extending back to Android 8 Oreo.
Unlike most messaging services, Molniya requires a one-time payment of 750 ₽ before installation. This pricing model was reportedly met with negative feedback from early testers, who had suggested implementing a premium subscription model instead of charging for the initial download.
The application includes features beyond basic messaging, such as a feed for short videos and social networking capabilities. Users can post content up to 2,000 characters, share photos, files, and music, and follow other users or channels.
As of October 13, 2026, the official website for the project remained inaccessible. Furthermore, the application description in RuStore does not provide information regarding the rationale behind the mandatory upfront fee.
