Modern CD players are incorporating features previously absent from the category, including Bluetooth connectivity, RGB lighting, and magnetic charging systems similar to Apple's MagSafe. Manufacturers are shifting from disposable batteries to integrated rechargeable batteries for both portable and desktop models.
The Fiio DM13 player features a 750 mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.2, and a metal chassis. In the Russian market, this model is priced at approximately 19,000 ₽ for domestic delivery and 13,000 ₽ for international shipping. Other compact designs, such as the Fosi Audio DISC Nano, have also emerged.
Market demand for physical media is rising. In the United States, CD sales increased by 58.6% in the first nine months of 2026 compared to the previous year. In Russia, demand for CDs nearly doubled in early 2026, while sales of dedicated MP3 players grew by 25%.
Despite the resurgence in hardware popularity, physical discs face durability issues. Reports from summer 2026 indicate that many legacy DVD and CD collections are experiencing physical degradation, rendering the stored data unrecoverable.
